BURLINGTON, Mass. – November 27, 2012 – Boston Semi Equipment, LLC announced the purchase of a complete 200mm CMOS process fab tool set. The fab tool package is comprised of over 500 tools that are currently running production in Japan. The equipment, which is running a .25 micron process, is capable of running at .18 microns. Equipment remarketing will begin immediately.
“This is an important acquisition for Boston Semi Equipment,” stated Bryan Banish, Boston Semi Equipment CEO. “Not only does it expand our presence in the secondary market for front end equipment solutions, but it also demonstrates the excellent relationship we have with Showa Leasing Co., Ltd., our financing partner for this purchase. We partnered with Showa Leasing specifically for the origination of equipment leases and tool set purchases within the Japanese semiconductor market.”
The set of tools contains Nikon steppers and scanners, TEL tracks, etch, diffusion and wets, Applied Materials PVD, CVD and etch, Varian and SEN implant, Novellus CVD, as well as tools from KLA, Hitachi and others.
“The equipment we have acquired, which is currently running production in a CMOS process, will become available when de-installation begins in January 2013,” commented Colin Scholefield, EVP Sales for Boston Semi Equipment. “We are actively remarketing the tools through the BSE Group worldwide distribution channels and have already lined up several buyers.”
