NPI Planner

Summary

As an NPI Material Planner within Boston Semi Equipment, you will plan and manage the flow of material from our vendors to the engineering group, through the factory, and out to customers. You will issue work orders to route material to engineering, the machine shop, and production floor. You will also work closely with Sales, Engineering, manufacturing, and service to plan the movement of material between departments and out to the customer to fulfill orders.  You will work with purchasing to plan, order, track, and expedite material deliveries.  This role will require an intimate knowledge of the processes and systems within the company and involve analysis and problem solving to improve our processes and make us more efficient.

Specific duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with engineering to plan, stage, and issue the material for their projects
  • Understand our product BOM structure and ECO implementation to plan material workflow to engineering and production
  • Assist purchasing with placing orders for engineering material as needed
  • Help purchasing expedite material delivery with suppliers to keep your engineering projects and production builds on schedule
  • Organize and maintain an engineering material stocking area
  • Participate in engineering project meetings and report on material status
  • Issue work orders to kit material and move it to the machine shop and the production floor for assembly
  • Work with outside processing suppliers to facilitate plating and coating of material made in-house
  • Work with sales and service to plan material for spares orders, down systems, upgrades, and retrofits
  • Work with finance to track the cost of material assigned to engineering projects and production builds
  • Analyze gaps in our planning processes and systems and propose improvements
  • Help to streamline our data collection and analysis using Excel and other tools

Qualifications

  • Associates degree (2 year) required, BS preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a planner or planner/buyer role
  • Previous experience with NPI / engineering planning
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems, particularly Epicor.
  • Ability to understand and interpret Bill of Materials (BOMS) and engineering drawings
  • Ability to actively interact directly with engineers and other stakeholders in a demanding and dynamically changing environment
  • Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Technical knowledge of purchasing, logistics, planning
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential along with sound judgment ability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Salary range: $85-$100,000/year
